Cross-working: Redditch District Collaborative and Redditch Borough Council

Updated: Jul 18

On Friday 8th March Rubicon Leisure hosted an International Women's Day event at The Boathouse, Arrow Valley Lake.

Working collaboratively with Redditch Borough Council and the Redditch District collaborative partners were invited to come along with the aim of interacting with the public and raising awareness of their services.

There were two workshops with information about how to find and keep your pelvic floor from a local instructor, Juanita Ochoa, and a talk by Nicola Noel, a local mental health practitioner about how to “Thrive in the Menopause”.

Also in attendance were two PCSO’s who gave out information about keeping safe, with other partners who amongst other things promoted various activities including “bumps and buggies” walking groups and the breast screening service.

Rubicon Leisure provided a week of FREE suitable activities for women at the gym where new users were welcome to try out the facilities.

The RDC were integral in identifying the correct partners to be in attendance as well coming along themselves to raise awareness of Social Prescribing.

Two workshops were held, Yoga with Analeen Moore and a Stress Awareness Talk by Nicola Noel from Brainworks, where we discussed coping strategies and triggers to help us identify and manage stress.

Also at the event was a Redditch based well being organisation, Ahead of Wellbeing who support people that have experienced domestic abuse, anyone who is feeling overwhelmed, in fear of losing jobs or experiencing loneliness, isolation and grief.  Other partners in attendance were Reimagine Redditch, MIND and Onside Advocacy.

Rubicon Leisure and Redditch District Council provided a week of FREE suitable activities for women, both at the gym and in the community where new users were welcome to try out the facilities.
