Embracing Wellness at Arrow Valley Lake: Your Health Matters!

On the 8th and 20th August at Arrow Valley Lake, a health and wellbeing event took place, dedicated to helping everyone take charge of their health and get advice from local organisations in attendance alongside the District Collaborative. These included:

  • Kingfisher Primary Care Network

  • Nightingales Primary Care Network

  • The Social Prescribing Team

  • NHS Digital

  • Redditch Active

  • Starting Well

  • Your Health Your Wellbeing Van

Whether residents were seeking advice, support, or simply a bit of guidance, this event provided a broad range of information.

Chianne explains how the event came about "The event was first discussed in June 2024 to promote the NHS APP, our Patient Participation Group, offer NHS Health Checks, help with Self-care and using the Atrial Fibrillation tool with members of the public to opportunistically detect an unregular pulse and potentially diagnose Heart conditions."

The Atrial Fibrillation tool being used at the event.

The Your Health Van was on-site on both days, offering free services without the need for an appointment. Residents could access a range of health resources, including GP registration support, screening, testing, and tailored advice.

A notable example was navigating the NHS App can sometimes be daunting. Members of the public were able to benefit from on-the-spot assistance from the NHS App Team. If you're keen on learning more about how the NHS App can help you, read these practical tips and advice.

Kingfisher PCN Care Co-Ordinator and Lead Organiser, Chianne McGowran said "We chose Arrow Valley Lakes in August as it is the school holidays, we would have a greater footfall, it is central to Redditch and the kids have somewhere to play. We also invited Nightingales Primary Care Network to join us, as both PCNs work in partnership with GP surgeries in Redditch and surrounding areas."

"The bus joined us to offer NHS Health Checks, signposting and help with GP registration."

This was an event for residents to ask any health questions they might have had, at their own pace.

Chianne reflected on the events. "I feel both promotion days went very well. Going forward, I would like to arrange more days like this to promote the health and wellbeing of the people of Redditch. Hopefully, we can do this once a month, providing the availability of the health van."

Chianne continued, "Kingfisher primary Care Network would like to thank everyone involved and who so kindly came along with their teams, to be a part of our two Health and Wellbeing Promotion days".

"I would like to welcome other health and wellbeing organisations, to contact me if they would like to join the future events we hope to hold in the coming months."

If your organisation would like to support future events, contact the Kingfisher PCN team.
