Men's Walk and Talk

Please note: This event is no longer active. No further dates are planned.

The Men's Walk and Talk was a free event which was created by the Redditch Social Prescribing Team. This was in response to a recognised gap in men's mental health peer-support groups outside of working hours locally.

According to the Office for National Statistics, in 2022, there were 5,642 suicides registered in England and Wales (10.7 deaths per 100,000 people); this is consistent with 2021 (5,583 deaths; 10.7 per 100,000).

Around three-quarters of suicides registered in 2022 were males (4,179 deaths; 74.1%), equivalent to 16.4 deaths per 100,000.

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of the patients who attended the walk, the Redditch Social Prescribing Link Workers (SPLW’s) undertook Walk Leader Training to enable the group to be led safely. This further cemented the team's commitment to patient care.

The Men's Walk and Talk event was exclusively for Social Prescribing patients.
